Houston man, Nigerian gets prison for $10M housing fraud

A federal and A Houston man have been sentenced to jail for what researchers in Texas predict a 10 million scam over capital meant to close on houses.

Prosecutors say James Campbell has been sentenced Tuesday to 71/2 years in prison. The 53-year-old Campbell had been convicted of conspiracy to commit wire fraud at thefts since 2016.

Hammed Akinola was sentenced by A federal judge in Houston for 15 years for certainty in the international fraud scenario linked to approximately 45 sufferers and requests for payment.

Researchers say that the victims thought they sent money to close on houses.

Prosecutors say bogus hacking and emails of accounts that are legitimate directed the victims to move funds to accounts controlled by Campbell and Akinola.
