Roto Lunch – July 24

That was a nice day yesterday, other than picking two Blue Jays and then seeing their game postponed. Both Cubs did some damage, both first basemen (Ike and Gaby) homered, and even Keppy got a couple hits. I think that ss/2b Asdrubal Cabrera should be owned in all leagues, and he’s available in 68%. Not listing him today since he’s facing the tough David Price, but even with bad matchups like today, he’s not bad for a shortstop. Neil Walker has probably reached the point of being a “must grab” player, also. Like Asdrubal, today’s not much fun for him, as Mat Latos has been lights-out.

Position Players:

ss Cliff Pennington – for a shortstop, he’s a great play, and he’s fast facing a battery which isn’t good at stopping steals.

of Andres Torres – in Arizona against Ian Kennedy

1b Ike Davis – another nice matchup for a quality hitter.

of Coco Crisp – even faster than Pennington, vs. same battery.

of/DH/future White Sock? Luke ScottScott Baker has been erratic at best this season, and Luke’s always had the force to give a fantasy team some new hope.

of Tyler Colvin – another hot day at Wrigley with a bad starter for the Cardinals.

ss Starlin Castro – if he’s still available.

of Seth Smith – I’m going to guess that Dexter Fowler gets a day off, and Smith gets a chance to feast on Kyle Kendrick today. It’s just a guess, though. Almost any Rox hitter would be nice to have today, though.

2b Jonathan Herrera – he will play, and Kendrick is bad.

1b Lyle Overbay – great matchup against Rick Porcello today.

c Kurt Suzuki – a fallback play if you have nobody better, he’s not bad.

Starting Pitchers:

Mat Latos has the 2nd-best matchup of the day. If he’s available for some reason, add him.

Vin Mazzaro has been pitching over his talent level, but he has a good arm, and being at home in Oakland against the ugly offense of the White Sox makes for a good play.

Starting Pitchers:

Mat Latos – if he’s available for some reason

Vin Mazzaro – against Chicago’s ugly offense.

For full disclosure, I’m picking up Cueto today, and playing Lind against Porcello. I didn’t include Cueto since I thought he would be gone in every league, and Lind has a bit of a higher ownership% than I usually cover, but may be available in active leagues, due to his bad stats so far.
