Down the Line: March 10, 2010

Today we begin a new regular feature here at BDD called Down the Line. This will be our little attempt to bring the baseball world closer to our readers by linking to some of the great work around the web…much like our esteemed colleague Tommy Bennett does at Baseball Prospectus. We’ll focus a little less on Sabermetrics though…you know, since I’m a scout and all!

So let’s get started…

If you’re a New York Mets fan, and you’re looking for a 2010 annual to guide you through the season, look no further than the Amazin Avenue Annual 2010. It’s jammed packed with great content from your favorite Amazin Avenue writers (and some guest writers too!). But best of all…it’s free!

The legendary Art Spander talks about the new authorized biography of Willie Mays at Real Clear Sports. Can’t wait to get my hands on a copy! From all I’ve heard, it’s a fantastic read.

If you think you’ve heard more about Jason Heyward this spring than just about any other professional baseball player, you’re not alone. Jason Collette cautions us, though, about expecting too much too soon from the Braves super prospect.

And finally…Stephen O’Grady does a tremendous job recapping and analyzing the MIT Sports Analytics Conference. Now I’m even more upset I didn’t get to go this year. You can bet it will be on my calendar for 2011.
