SABR Boston Hot Stove Meeting Recap
Posted by Matt Sisson on Friday, January 22, 2010 at 11:35 am
The Boston Chapter of the Society for American Baseball Research held its annual Hot Stove Winter Meeting on Monday one block from Fenway Park at The Baseball Tavern. This year, the line up of presenters was once again, impressive to say the least.
Presenters included:

Bill Monbouquette: Former Red Sox pitcher who was with Boston from 1958-1965.
Fernando Perez: Former ivy leaguer and current Tampa Bay Ray switch hitting outfielder who was the first Major League player to be featured in Poetry magazine.
Larry Tye: Best selling author of the book Satchel: The Life and Times of an American Legend
Additional information on the event can be found at the Boston SABR Website. For those of you in the area, the Society for American Baseball Research National’s Susan Petrone (SABR Publicity and Member Services Manager) has announced that Saturday, January 30 is “SABR Day in America” and would like all of the chapters to hold some sort of meeting on that day. The Boston Chapter will be planning an event at McGreevy’s on Boylston st. for those interested. I’ll post more information once the event has been finalized.
*Update*
Received this in an email regarding SABR Day in American (and Boston):
After a very successful meeting on Monday, January 18, the Boston Chapter will meet again on Saturday, January 30, at 5:30 pm at MCGREEVY’S, 911 Boylston Street, Boston, (directly across the street from Hynes Auditorium) to re-convene the Hot Stove League Meeting and to pick up where we left off. Since we did not have much time to just talk baseball, the SABR Day, January 30, will give us a chance to look to the upcoming season. The meeting is casual, you can arrive at 5:30 or catchup with us later. We will meet near the back of the main room, beyond the bar area.
Didn’t have a chance to attend the Monday meeting? Here’s your chance to find out all the highlights and to think ahead as the truck leaves Fenway Park in a few days, and when the pitcher and catchers report. There are changes on the Sox roster and we will be talking up the news. Don’t miss it!
