The Future is Bright

In case you haven’t noticed, we have begun to make some real changes here at Baseball Daily Digest.
We recently bid farewell to some of our veteran writers and brought in some fresh, new, and very talented, blood. Douglas Thorburn, Bo Wulf, and Isaac Thorn have joined our stellar staff of Brian Joseph, Rob McQuown, Bill Baer, David Wade, Eric Polsky, and Jeff Shand-Lubbers to form the finest core of writers BDD has ever seen. That core will be complimented by some passionate and knowledgable contributors so that we may provide our readers with the best coverage possible.
The overhaul doesn’t stop there. Thanks to the good folks at Nova Fantasy Sports, BDD will now provide a regular news feed on our home page with complete player updates on a page of its own. Check it out. Very cool stuff!
Now here’s where it gets really interesting…Once the Major League Baseball playoffs are complete, we will begin working with our parent company, Baseball Prospectus, to provide a new and improved player/team tracker utilizing BP’s cutting edge technology. Many of the great stats and tracker features available at BP will soon be available at BDD at a fraction of the cost. Gone will be all the annoying errors with pitchers’ hitting, the inclusion of rookies, and players not appearing. We have decided that it’s time to bring BDD in line with the big boys!
I could probably stop there, but, I won’t! In 2010 we will make a concerted effort to cover all teams, divisions, and geographic regions equally. I realize that our coverage tends to have an East Coast bias, but that’s about to change.
BDD will also make better use of the fantastic photos provided by our own Bill Richardson and Dean Lima while leveraging the great site over at Picapp.com to paint a vivid picture of each story.
And one more thing…I’M BACK! Yes, I’m tooting my own horn a little, but I have gained some valuable industry experience this past year and a half. I plan to share my knowledge and once again contribute on a regular basis, analyzing the scouting and player development aspects of the game. I will also take regular looks at college and high school baseball and provide some surprise goodies.
BDD Radio will return as well with yours truly as the host. If you remember all the great guests (Mike Rizzo, Dayton Moore, Andrew Friedman) we had a few years ago, just think bigger and better this time around!
I realize I may have overwhelmed some of you with all this information, but if you can’t tell, I’m very excited! I hope you are too!
All the best,
Joe

I might add that Matt Sisson, Craig Brown, and Michael Street are still very much a part of BDD’s foundation of writers!
