Roto Lunch – July 11

Congratulations to Jonathan Sanchez for the no-hitter! If Juan Uribe wasn’t in for defense instead of Panda, it could have been a perfect game, too. And to think that we were too timid to suggest using Jo-San yesterday, even against the Padres. At least faith in Feldman paid off. Anyway, this Saturday edition of RL is going to be bare-bones.
Season Moves:
- Ryan Doumit quietly returned from the DL. He’s probably a top-10 catcher, and that team’s offense isn’t too bad with McCutchen leading off, even with a pitcher’s park for the home games.
- We’ve held on to Joba Chamberlain this season, despite the terrible results. It’s a non-holds league, so if he goes to the pen, he’s essentially worthless. Anyone think we should hold him for another couple weeks, or cut bait now?
- We’re sending Scott Feldman back into the pool, despite the now-weakened Angels lineup (with Hunter and Vlad hurting) and anemic A’s and M’s offenses. The xFIP is just so bad that it seems like playing with fire. Hoping someone else gleefully picks him up just in time for his wake-up call.
Starting Pitchers:
- Jarrod Washburn: yes, it’s Texas, but no, they can’t hit on the road, with a team OBP under .300.
Catchers: John Baker
First Basemen: Lyle Overbay, Travis Ishikawa, Ty Wigginton
Second Basemen: Nothing great here, but Ian Stewart and Casey McGeehee aren’t bad.
Third Basemen: Scott Rolen, Ty Wigginton, Gordon Beckham, and the 2b guys can both play 3b also.
Shortstops: Cristian Guzman (vs LHP Hampton!), Gordon Beckham
Outfielders: Kosuke Fukudome, Cody Ross, Denard Span, Nolan Reimold, Ty Wigginton, Nate Schierholtz
