  • The Braves have confirmed that they’ve completed a deal that sends Francoeur and cash considerations to the Mets in exchange for outfielder Ryan Church. [Atlanta Braves official website]
  • Mariners shortstop Yuniesky Betancourt was traded to Kansas City on Friday, giving the Royals a versatile infielder and Seattle a pair of minor league pitchers. [...] The Royals also received cash considerations, while the Mariners get right-hander Danny Cortes and left-hander Derrick Saito. Cortes will report to Double-A West Tenn and Saito will head to Class A Clinton. [FOX Sports]
  • The Houston Astros announced today that the club has claimed catcher Chris Coste off waivers from the Philadelphia Phillies. [Astros official website]
  • NL All-Star Game and Phillies manager Charlie Manuel has selected Jayson Werth to replace the Mets’ Carlos Beltran on the roster. American League and Rays manager Joe Maddon replaced the Angels’ Torii Hunter with the Rangers’ Nelson Cruz.
    • It’s the first time in 37 years that an NL team sent three outfielders to the All-Star Game — Roberto Clemente, Willie Stargell and Al Oliver went for Pittsburgh in 1972. [ESPN]
  • Official word is expected later this month, but the Red Sox and Cuban shortstop Jose Iglesias have agreed to terms on an $8 million-plus deal, according to a source familiar with the talks. [Boston Herald]
  • General manager Ruben Amaro Jr. refuted reports of a done deal, but clearly the Phillies are seriously interested in [Pedro] Martinez and an official announcement by the end of the week wouldn’t be surprising. [NBC Sports]
