..The Angels have created an award to honor pitcher Nick Adenhart who was killed in a traffic collision in April by a drunk driver. The Angels will now present the Nick Adenhart “Pitcher of the Year” award to the Angels pitcher that was voted on by teammates for being the most outstanding during the season. [Yahoo]

..New York Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia was pulled from the second inning of yesterdays game against the Marlins. He was diagnosed with tightness in his left bicep. One has to wonder if they mess with Phil Hughes and put him back into the rotation.[AP]

..It was a fun day in Boston yesterday for the Atlanta Braves, they got to see their Manager, pitcher (Eric O’Flaherty) and Chipper Jones. What’s even more interesting is that Jones only has 6 career ejections only 138 or so from catching up to his Manager. [AP]

..According to Dodgers MLB.com beat writer Ken Gurnick, the Dodgers are rumored to have interest in Seattle Mariners left hander Jarrod Washburn who is rumored to be on GM Ned Coletti’s “radar”. [MLB]

..Both the Angels and Dodgers will pass on Pedro Martinez. The Angels recently scouted a workout and decided for baseball reasons that they will not attempt to sign the 38 year-old pitcher. [LA Times]

..Phillies slugger Ryan Howard could return to the lineup as soon as Tuesday according to CBSsports.com. He was hospitalized over the weekend with the flu. [CBS Sports]

..Tuesday gear from the Boston RedSox 2007 World Series victory will be enshrined in the Smithsonian. BoSox president Larry Lucchino will be on hand to donate the gear including a jersey worn by Jon Lester during Game 4 and a third base used during the series as well. [CBS Sports]

..From the “What player is he watching” file, we turn to Royals GM Dayton Moore and the Kansas City Star. Bradford Doolittle makes a great point, and I for one would agree. [KC Star]

I do know that Dayton Moore loves Jeff Francoeur as much I love to watch Ashely Judd hug Danica Patrick. More than once when I’ve been talking to Moore has he alluded to Francoeur as an example of a successfully-developed player. (He’s not.) Needless to say, given the Royals hacktastic ways, Francoeur is absolutely the last player they need to acquire. But if it could get Jose Guillen off the books … then maybe you do it anyway.
