Baseball’s Best Bets (May 17, 2009)

If I would have just stuck with the picks I discarded, yesterday wouldn’t have been half bad. The two losses were especially rough since the Astros tied their game up in the 9th and lost on a walk-off hit by Alfonso Soriano then the Reds lost in extra innings to the Padres on a Nick Hundley walk-off homer. Not a good day at all.
TODAY’S PICKS
San Diego Padres (-155) over Cincinnati Reds
THE BET: 100 Units / Win = +100, Loss = -155
After both bullpens were decimated by the long night on Sunday, both starters will be called on to go deep. With Jake Peavy for the Padres and Bronson Arroyo for the Reds which one are you going to go with? My pick is Peavy who is 5-0 in nine career starts against the Reds with an ERA under 3.00.
