Matchup of the Day: Yankees A.J. Burnett vs. Blue Jays Roy Halladay

We venture north of the border to bring you today’s matchup between two ex-teammates.
Tonight at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, A.J. Burnett leads the New York Yankees into town to take on Roy Halladay and the Toronto Blue Jays. Toronto currently resides in first place in the American League East with a record of 22-12. New York sits in third place (15-16), 5 1/2 games back of the Blue Jays.
Burnett returns to his old stomping grounds with a record of 2-0 and an ERA of 5.26. After posting three strong starts to begin the season, A.J. had fallen on hard times, giving up 15 earned runs in his last 18 innings. He looks to regain his form in the town he called home the past three seasons.
Roy Halladay, on the other hand, comes into tonight’s action with a sparkling 6-1 record, a 3.29 ERA, and a WHIP of 1.12. Amazingly, he’s received decisions in all 7 of his starts so far this season. Tonight he’ll have his hands full against the league’s 5th highest scoring offense. (Ironically, the Jays are the ones who lead the league in scoring with 204 runs.)
