Roto Lunch – May 4

Despite a career-long lack of control, David Aardsma is going to be closing in Seattle for now, with Shawn Kelley probably next in line if Aardsma becomes BB-rdsma.
Starting Pitchers:
A lot depends on how much risk you want to take today, but Kevin Millwood is a must-play at Seattle, no matter what. This is a guy with an ERA title, and a 2nd-place ERA finish, who is again pitching like a Cy Young candidate, though he has only 2 wins to show for it.
Joe Saunders is at Oakland, and should be a good matchup, as Oakland has had trouble scoring this season.
For the people with higher risk threshholds, Jorge De La Rosa isn’t someone you often consider for roto, but away from Colorado, in San Diego, he could do well. The Padres are less likely to draw walks than many teams, and JDLR’s strikeout and hit rates have been good.
Bart Colon might be good for rate stats at KC, but he’s going up against the frontrunner for the Cy Young Award in Zach Greinke, so don’t expect a “W”.
Batters:
A couple Cleveland “skill” position players are among the best grabs for today… ss/2b Asdrubal Cabrera and c Kelly Shoppach have always hit LHP much better, and though Tallet gets righties out well, they should be good plays today.
3b Melvin Mora has a good chance to hit Kazmir today.
of Dexter Fowler is entering a series at San Diego, and should be played every game there.
2b/3b Emilio Bonifacio is facing Harang, who may not allow many baserunners this year, but when they get on, they do run, and Bonifacio doesn’t need an invitation.
While De La Rosa is a possibility as a pitcher, there’s still a good chance for the Padres RHB’s to have good days, consider Chase Headley, Kevin Kouzmanoff, and even Scott Hairston.
1b/of Chris Duncan is a good matchup against Joe Blanton.
of J.D. Drew at New York against youngster Hughes should be good, though you may lose an AB or two because of walks.
2b Akinori Iwamura is a great pickup against Eaton, who is bad, and is worse against LHB.
Some other decent plays: 2b Alberto Callaspo, c Dioner Navarro, 1b Nick Johnson, 2b/of Skip Schumaker.
