Baseball’s Best Bets (April 29, 2008)

Kyle Lohse delivered but so did Jo-Jo Reyes as it came down to the bullpens in the Braves/Cardinals match-up… and the Cardinals ‘pen didn’t hold up while the Braves ‘pen did. The loss cost BDD’s BBBs 106 units and a loss. Looking to quickly get back on track, here are:
TODAY’S PICKS
Kansas City Royals (-142) over Toronto Blue Jays
THE BET: 100 Units / Win = +100, Loss = -142
Last year’s Royals hit left-handed pitching better than right-handed pitching so Brian Tallet on the mound for Toronto should help the Royals. In addition, K.C. has Zack Greinke on the mound. Greinke hasn’t given up an earned run this year and has a decent batting line against current Blue Jays (.278/.298/.413). He’s 4-0 this year but there is a concern with Greinke’s lifetime 1-3 record and 5.12 ERA against the Blue Jays in his career. I’m going to speed up and go through the yellow light instead of stopping on this one.
San Francisco Giants (-140) over Los Angeles Dodgers
THE BET: 100 Units / Win = +100, Loss = -140
Tim Lincecum’s batting line against current Dodgers is .237/.366/.356 and he has a 2-0 record and 1.59 ERA against their rivals. Eric Stults owns a .417/.481/.625 batting line against current Giants in 55 PAs but numbers like that against the offensively soft team from San Fran. In addition, the Giants are at home and got to the bullpen in both games of the series.
