Roto Lunch – April 27

Season Moves:
- Pick up Juan Cruz if you can find a slot… Soria’s condition doesn’t sound promising, though the team is denying everything.
- Following the advice we’ve put on here before, I’m cutting Troy Glaus from my DL in my 10-team league, picking up Ryan Doumit for DL, and Pablo Sandoval to give me a 2nd 3b option.
Pitchers:
- Randy Wolf at SF against Zito seems like a good matchup.
- Other less-ideal grabs would be: Joe Blanton at home against the Nats, where he should pick up the win, but might hurt your ERA. And David Purcey @KC, where he’ll face off with Brian Bannister. The free-swinging Royals could end up helping him out a lot, and he will get you some serious K’s.
Batters:
- Jason Bartlett against Scott Baker. Despite the lack of a platoon advantage, Minnesota hasn’t been throwing any runners out this year, and Baker’s been bad so far. Besides, there’s that “former team” thing going.
- Dexter Fowler (and any other fast Rockies) against Chris Young… do-run-run, do-run-run….
- Mike Lowell is facing a lefty (Cliff Lee), which is always a good matchup for him.
- If you haven’t completely lost faith in Mike Aviles, a spot start today against lefty David Purcey could provide some good numbers from either middle infield position. Ditto for C John Buck (if he’s playing), and 1b Billy Butler (who creams LHP still, despite his horrific numbers overall).
- San Diego is at Colorado, so guys you wouldn’t normally consider, such as Chase Headley, and Jody Gerut, become attractive. Kouzmanoff hasn’t hit RHP all that well, and has been ice cold… not today for him.
- The Twin Unknowns – Jason Kubel and Denard Span – are facing yet another mediocre RHP today, and should be good plays.
- Michael Bourn should be a good play against Cueto, especially if you need SB.
- Nick Johnson gets overlooked a lot because he’s oft-injured, and doesn’t hit a ton of homers, but at Philly against Joe Blanton, he rates to have a nice day, especially since Blanton won’t walk him, and he’ll be able to hit away.
- Ty Wigginton against a crappy lefty like Harrison is a tasty matchup, too. I chose Nick Johnson today, needing a corner guy, though.
