Atlanta’s McCann Shelved

Catcher Brian McCann went on the 15-day disabled list today as the veteran battles a left eye infection. McCann has suffered from blurred vision for a couple of weeks and will take two weeks to try and regain correct vision.McCann is expected to get a second Lasik surgery on his eye repeating the surgical procedure he had after the 2007 season. Although there is a possibility that an alternate path to try and fix the problem will be taken, McCann is scheduled to see the doctor who performed his original procedure on Monday.
The Braves All-Star catcher has just two hits in his last 26 at-bats and Atlanta will be forced to use the offensively inferior David Ross and have recalled Clint Sammons from Triple-A Gwinnett to back up Ross. McCann will be eligible to return from the DL on May 8th.
