Baseball’s Best Bets (April 25, 2009)

K-Rod made what was as close to a sure thing as possible a nerve-racking one. Thanks to Johan Santana’s continued mastery, the Mets took down the Nationals and gave BDD’S BBBs a win. Not much on the board is tempting on Saturday but there was one:
TODAY’S PICKS
Chicago White Sox (-153) over Toronto Blue Jays
THE BET: 100 Units / Win = +100, Loss = -153
There are a couple of young players in the Blue Jays lineup that have never faced Mark Buehrle and Vernon Wells kills the lefty. However, even with Wells’ healthy numbers, current Blue Jays have a .220/.263/.341 batting line against Buehrle (and a .153 average without Wells’ 17-for-32 effort). Even if Buehrle slips and falls, Brian Burres is in a spot starter role for the Jays and Burres owns a lifetime 13-18 record and 5.88 record. He’s been smacked around by the White Sox before.
YESTERDAY’S RECAP

Yesterday’s Winners
New York Mets (-260) over Washington Nationals (Mets, 4-3)
Yesterday’s Losers
None
