…Geoff Baker of the Seattle Times is reporting that the Seattle Mariners have told third baseman Adrian Beltre “No”, when it comes to playing in the World Baseball Classic. [Seattle Times]

“If it was up to him, he’d be going,” Zduriencik said. “We need this player and we need this player badly to be a very competitive club this year.”

…The Cincinnati Reds have inked pitchers Johnny Cueto and Ramom Ramirez to 1 year deals. Both pitchers debuted last year, and the club of course didn’t release any other details regarding their contracts. [Associated Press]

…The World Champion Philadelphia Phillies have given right handed pitcher Adam Eaton his walking papers. The Phillies still owe Eaton the balance of his contract, a cool $9 million. As you can imagine, he’s not happy.[Yahoo]

“I don’t think upset is the right word,” Eaton said. “Underachieve? Yeah. The expectations for both sides coming in were unrealized. One was achieved last year, but not in the way we thought.

…Houston Astros shortstop Miguel Tejada has changed his mind and had decided to play in the World Baseball Classic. Earlier in the week he decided not to play. [Yahoo]

…David Lennon of Newsday is reporting that New York Mets ace Johan Santana is officially in limbo. What was deemed nothing to worry about in reference to elbow tightness something that is a spring ritual, has expanded to put his opening day start in jeopardy. [News Day]

…Sean McAdam of the Boston Herald is reporting that the BoSox have no interest in bringing back Pedro Martinez. Also according to the report, Pedro’s people had contacted the Red Sox to see if there was any interest in the right hander. [Boston Herald]

…The New York Mets have added more pitching by signing former Yankees pitcher Ron Villone to a minor league deal, with an invite to camp. [NY Post]

…Padres beat writer Corey Brock is reporting that the Padres have come to terms with 29 arbitration eligible players, now making everyone on the 40 man roster under contract. [Padres]
