A-Rod tested positive for PED’s in ‘03

According to a report on SI.com, Alex Rodriguez tested positive for two anabolic steroids in 2003 according to four sources, this according to Selena Roberts and David Epstein of Sports Illustrated. A-Rods name appears on a list of 104 players who tested positive in the MLB’s survey testing. The testing was conducted to see if MLB and the MLBPA would institute mandatory testing across the board in 2004.
Here’s what A-Rod had to say when approached about the subject while he was at the gym, getting ready for the 2009 season.
“You’ll have to talk to the union,” said Rodriguez, the Yankees’ third baseman since his trade to New York in February 2004. When asked if there was an explanation for his positive test, he said, “I’m not saying anything.”
Also according to the article they (Roberts and Epstein) tried to contact MLBPA Union Executive Donald Fehr but their calls were not returned. Keep in mind that in that in 2003 there were no penalties for testing positive for PED’s.
In 2003 Rodriguez won his third straight league home run title and his first of three Most Valuable Player awards.

This is a huge civil rights violation. The tests were supposed to be anonymous, plus the SI article even says…
The agents who collected the material had a search warrant only for the results for the 10 BALCO-linked players.
The U.S. government once again blatantly abuses its power to assassinate someone’s character. A-Rod, like Bonds, will never be able to restore his reputation both as an athlete and as a person. This is beyond pathetic, and I hope A-Rod sues the government for every penny he can get, and doesn’t need.
I completely agree A-Rod should sue, as these names were supposed to remain anonymous.
