According to MLB.com, Ben Sheets may need elbow surgery.

Sheets has a torn flexor tendon in his elbow, and could be shut down.

The Texas Rangers and Sheets reached an agreement on a two-year contract late last week pending a physical. Upon discovery of the torn tendon, Texas GM Jon Daniels stated, “We’ve maintained contact but I’m not optimistic at this point.”

As I stated on Twitter earlier this week, there was buzz around the league that Sheets’ medical reports were less than satisfying to a number of GMs.
