…Well it didn’t take long for K-Rod to start talking like a Met.

“Of course, we’re going to try to win the division. Of course, we’re going to be the front-runner. Of course, we’re going to be the team to beat,” he said Saturday.

“I don’t want there to be a controversy or the other ballclubs in that division to take it personally or take it in a bad way,” he said. “If they ask me, ‘Oh, which ballclub is going to win the National League East?’ It’s going to be the Mets. Easy question.”

Then again if you ask Cole Hamels, the Mets are nothing but “Choke artists”. [USA Today]

…With young depth at Catcher the Seattle Mariners have not offered a contract to 37 year old back up Jamie Burke, thus making him a free agent. [Mariners]

…The New York Yankees already have a Plan “B” if they can’t land Mark Teixeira, and that would be Manny Ramirez, this according to the New York Post. [NY Post]

“If they can’t get Teixeira, they are right there on Manny,” an official with knowledge of the Yankees’ plan said yesterday.

…The Colorado Rockies have come to terms with free agent reliever Alan Embree, it’s reportedly a 1 year deal with a mutual option for 2010. [ESPN]

…The Daniel Cabrera experiment is over in Baltimore. On Saturday he was non-tendered and is now a free agent. After a 10 year run the Orioles finally got tired of him and decided it was time to move on. [Yahoo]

…Free Agent reliever and former Yankee Kyle Farnsworth has inked a deal with the Kansas City Royals. The deal is reportedly 2 years and $9.25 million dollars. Dayton Morre the Royals GM who got to see Farnsworth up close in his short time in Atlanta loves the fact he was able to bring him to KC. [CBS]

“Kyle Farnsworth’s power arm blends in well with the rest of our bullpen,” Royals general manager Dayton Moore said. “We feel his presence will impact our bullpen and make it very strong.”
