…There are a lot of story lines headed into this years World Series. Would you have guessed one of those stories pits father against son? It wont play out on the field, but in their respective broadcast booths. As many know the voice of Phillies radio man Harry, what some may not know is that his son T0dd – does TV for the Tampa Bay Rays. [Philly.com]

…Jake Peavy rumors abound as the Padres are shopping their staff ace. The front runner seems to be the Atlanta Braves, who have the prospects to deal. According to Joel Sherman of the New York Post who talked to several ‘major league executives’ that the Braves are the front runners and have put together a package that includes top pitching prospect Tommy Hanson and outfield prospect Jordan Schafer. And if Schafer rings a bell, it was because he was suspended for the first 50 games of the season for performance enhancing drugs violation. [New York Post]
…The Arizona Diamondbacks have announced that they will retain their current coaching staff for the 2009 season. [CBS Sports]
…Albert Pujols will take part in the 2009 World Baseball Classic in March. He headlines the roster for the Dominican Republic. It’s a team that already includes, Pedro Martinez, Alfonso Soriano, and Vladimir Guerrero. [CBS Sports]
…Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Delwyn Young will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow to remove bone spurs. He’ll need about six weeks of rehab and should be ready to participate in Spring Training. [MLB.com]
…Oft injured pitcher Mark Prior is expected to announce his free agency after the World Series. Prior who underwent shoulder surgery this season had signed a one year deal with the San Diego Padres last December. Although he’s going to be come a free agent he wouldn’t mind if the Padres resigned him. [MLB.com]
“We would definitely be interested in the Padres,” Boggs said. “It’s a situation where I’m sure he would love the opportunity to come back with the Padres.
