The Chicago Cubs today placed outfielder Alfonso Soriano on the 15-day disabled list with a right calf strain and recalled infielder Eric Patterson from Triple-A Iowa.

Soriano strained his right calf after making a catch to end the top of the first inning last night.  He is batting .175 (17-for-57) with one double, two home runs and five RBI in 13 games this season.

How long Soriano will be out remains to be seen. It's not looking good.
